Novalog Expects to Sample New IrDA(R) Chip by End of Year

COSTA MESA, Calif., Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Novalog, Inc., a subsidiary of Irvine Sensors Corporation (Nasdaq:
IRSN - news; BSE: ISC - news) announced today that, by the end of calendar 2000, it expects to begin sampling its new advanced infrared (IR) circuit,
which has been designed to operate at a lower power that its existing modules. The company anticipates that the chip will be in production by the end of the
first calendar quarter 2001.

NovaSIR(TM) has been planned to support the worldwide standards of the Infrared Data Association (IrDA), and meets the demanding design
requirements for point-to-point wireless IR communications and data transfer between computers, peripherals, personal digital assistants, cellular phones,
and other electronic devices. Novalog expects to utilize the new, lower power circuit in its MiniSIR® and SIRtel(TM) families of IrDA transceiver modules.
Future products in 2001 will potentially include Medium Infrared (MIR) circuits and modules tailored to cellular IrDA applications, as well as Fast Infrared
(FIR) circuits and modules.
