This is already in the making for all the reasons you have already stated. I think it was mentioned in PC Mag.

Of course the P4 will ship with new benchmarks, mainly because it doesn't look very good with current benchmarks. Intel has to cook up something new, they tried that with the earlier Rambus chipsets too but weren't massively successful. The mainstream benchmarks are representative of what people really use PCs for, but what does that matter?

sylvester... Some of the comments being made on this thread by the bears and bashers reminds me of the problems the early auto makers had with the carriage makers and users in the horse and buggy days. No difference at all.<G>
