Mike-

An interesting tidbit from amm.com

Russian titanium producer targeting US

I'm too cheap to subscribe, so I only see the headline. Implications for RTI/TIE/ATI? A quick search of the net pulled up this info:

Boeing expands coooperation pacts with two Russian firms

Cooperative agreements have been signed by Boeing and two Russian firms. The accords with Ilyushin aircraft design bureau and titanium-producer Verkhnaya Salda Metallurgical Association (VSMPO) have no monetary figures but will expand existing cooperation, according to Boeing. Ilyushin design bureau has worked with Boeing since 1994, and its engineers working at Boeing's Moscow design center have participated in such Boeing aircraft projects as the 747, 767 and 777. July 13, 2000

Verkhnaya Salda Metallurgical Production Association (VSMPO), the world's largest titanium producer, intends to sign a new contract worth more than $200 million with Airbus Industries in September. The contract will last five to seven years and VSMPO will start to supply the metal in 2001. VSMPO has been stepping up supplies to Airbus Industries and should Airbus Industries go ahead with a $US12,000 million project to build a European airbus, VSMPO would be one of the main suppliers. What about other more "conservative" plays based on the same idea -- an eventual setback for the dollar?
