I can understand if they want to keep ongoing negotiations secret, but if they hire an investment bank to "explore all options", then I don't quite see why that should be all cloak and daggers. After all, it commits them to nothing, and there is absolutely nothing to be gained by keeping it secret - in the case of negotiations, it might affect the price of the stock of the buyer (and seller), but in this case, there is zero downside to informing your shareholders (i.e. owners of the business, LOL!) that the services of an investment bank have been retained. Anyhow, it is all academic, keeping things "confidential" only hurts the little guy, since the real big money knows such things ahead of time (and haven't we seen that in NITE in the last 18 months), and profits by it - the only ones left out of the loop are as always, you guessed it, the common shareholders - "we don't comment on rumors and speculation" indeed. But we all know how much NITE management cares about the common shareholder, don't we? There is a long and inglorious record of that. Par for the course.
