Hi Rose. Just got off phone with ...

... the kid who's acting as my full service broker for an IRA of mine.

Touched base on when to buy, basically.

The kid has on his close (pull trigger on buys) watch list the following:

1. JDSU. Believes in it strongly for long-term. By his definition, this means he thinks things will turn around after SDLI news is digested -- says great long-term buy NOW -- long-term meaning two to five years.

2. TXN. Long. Always. Especially now.

3. NXTL. Swinger. Six months, says he.

4. MU. We discussed the interrelationship between RMBS and MU based on MU's suing of RMBS. He knows I have the perspective FROM RMBS, not MU. Says he thinks the lawsuit can be (if you can visualize this) 'put out of the picture' to focus on a short-term MU trade (six months OR 'by end of year,' in the kid's words) 20-40% pop or even higher.

He likes MU for probably six-month trader STRICTLY BECAUSE he thinks as DRAM prices drop, will cause pop in MU.

ALSO, upon further questioning by me, thinks any settlement in their seemingly DESPERATE patent lawsuit against RMBS, both will pop short-term, as I suspected.

5. NVLS. As a long trade (oxymoron? Everything out of the kid's mouth could be considered oxymoronic, but considering the source of his bread and butter as a full-service career-track broker, is understandable <g>).

Thinks NVLS could trade well buying now into next six months. FWIW.

6. DOW NON-TECH OPINIONS from the kid:

-- MMM. Thinks within a couple of months MMM will track back to mid-90s. (As he said, these are boring non-glamourous possibilities, but that's what I asked him with the DJIA down -200 today, okay?)

-- VC. Thinks will move to $25 or $30 (from about $14 now) in six months. I've never heard of VC.

This kid likes Gilder. I've read so much negative about Gilder on these boards, told him so. WHY DO YOU LIKE GILDER?

Says the kid: "Look at his PAST performance."

Sigh.

He mentioned two others -- I suppose as 'long shots:'

-- LNOP

-- ADCT. Kid says, "It's just cheap." Because of Sprint's dismal news, which the kid says "it's just temporary." By year end, thinks will pop.

Okay ... just news "from the front."

Christ, I'm so glad I never had any desire to work professionally in finance ... <g>

Good day to ya, Rose et al.
