An Intel spokesman said that "hundreds of thousands" of the chips will come out this year.
With the intro scheduled for October 30, I wonder how many will actually ship this year?

IMO the P4 will be a step above or at the next incarnation of the Dell WS620. If it is design in that mold, it may be delivered in the 8 RIMM socket configuration. That corresponds to 144 Million RDRAM devices needed to populate those 1 M P4 systems.
Them's some staggering numbers to contemplate. Even for Micron and Hyundai.
