Since this country recognises adherents of different religous faiths (and some atheists), someone's God may not agree with your God. Hence the laws are reflective of a majority opinion ( This is where a seperation of Church and State is important). If it has PROLIFE laws, so be it. It could be selfishness, could be convenience or could be a life and death situation for an individual. Now that a majority opinion has decided that it is OK to have pro abortion laws, Why should government have any right to tell any other individual that they cannot abort? It is between that individual and his/her God. I do not know what compulsions (if any) are driving that individual to that decision. I can only try to counsel them against it. In US the laws clearly prohibit killing any individual, new born babies or grown ups. So that part should be obeyed. As far as abortion is concerned, a law should only be passed (how so ever it is distasteful to me or it is to you) only when the majority wants it. What other alternatives do you have for women who find themselves who are pregnant but are not in a position to raise. If abortion is not a way for them, would you consider adopting. If so, how many would you be willing to adopt? Let me go further (all discussion is hypothetical of course), what if the woman does not want to go through the entire pregnancy, would you consider adopting the fetus into your womb (assuming there are medical advances that make it a possibility)? Also, many women say that it is their body and their decision, and they feel very strongly about it. How do you address that situation? By calling them selfish? China is not US. It's policy of killing the females (if it does exist) is abhorable. BTW: Do you try shame everyone who does not see your point of view?
