QCOM/Wireless Knowledge--Wireless Knowledge Announces Participation in Microsoft Partner Solutions Center Wireless Knowledge to Showcase Mobility Solutions for Microsoft Exchange SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 20, 2000--Wireless Knowledge Inc., a Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq: MSFT - news) and QUALCOMM Inc. (Nasdaq: QCOM - news) company, Wednesday announced its participation in the Microsoft Partner Solutions Center (MPSC), where it will showcase its Workstyle(TM) Server, an enterprise software offering that mobilizes critical corporate information via secure, wireless access to the enterprise network.
Opened in March 2000, the newly expanded MPSC is dedicated to the rapid development of secure, end-to-end network solutions, providing the network service provider community with a first look at emerging products, services and technologies all in a single, state-of-the-art facility. Other MPSC participants include Compaq, Dell, HP, Intel, Lucent and Nortel, and more than 30 other companies.
Wireless Knowledge's participation in the MPSC follows its Aug. 7 announcement to work with Microsoft to provide customers with a complete solution for mobile access to Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, and future Exchange upgrades, using Workstyle Server. The first version of the software provides wireless access to Microsoft Exchange email, calendar and contacts using a broad variety of wireless devices including Internet-enabled mobile phones and PDAs. By working with the MPSC, wireless carriers, ASPs and enterprise customers can learn how Workstyle Server increases productivity and enhances mobility.
``The MPSC provides Wireless Knowledge with access to world-class, relevant technology partners in an intimate, incubator environment,'' said Eric V. Schultz, chairman and CEO of Wireless Knowledge. ``By collaborating with Microsoft's technical engineers and other participating industry partners, the MPSC enables us to quickly foster the joint development of innovative wireless Internet applications and solutions, and to promote these products to our mutual customers.''
``Mobile data is emerging as a key enabler, which extends the reach of all types of information to the knowledge worker,'' said Michael Sandoval, director of the Microsoft Partner Solutions Center at Microsoft Corp. ``Wireless Knowledge was invited to participate in the MPSC to help address and bring insight to mobile technology and infrastructure requirements of today's enterprises and mobile carriers.''
The MPSC is a unique multi-vendor environment that brings together its partners' combined expertise, resources, and best-of-breed technology to rapidly build and test secure, end-to-end network solutions to meet their customers' needs. Three of the main areas of focus include wireless data products, application service provider (ASP) offerings and broadband/media services.
Located in Building 25 on the Microsoft campus in Redmond, Wash., the new MPSC includes new technology areas such as a load-generation lab, expanded workshop capacity, new network services, and specialty training rooms. A unique aspect of the MPSC is that it is the only facility on the Microsoft campus that operates outside the company firewall, thereby giving partners the ability to easily run ``live'' pilots and customer tests onsite.
Further, as part of its Aug. 7 announcement with Microsoft, Wireless Knowledge was also designated as a primary service partner for enterprise mobility services including strategic consulting, application development and education.
