Crater the stock?

Perhaps not. If NTAP continues a 90%+ growth rate, it won't really matter. EMC is already calling itself "the fastest growing NAS provider". Everyone saw through that.

Not only that, but if EMC shows a big bubble in NAS growth, it will be at the expense of its SAN growth, so their growth rate will be a zero sum game.

bp, EMC has a huge installed base. They could "give" away Celerra NAS front ends to customers who agree to big Symmetrix addons/upgrades, still make good margins, and roll the revenenue into the NAS column on their books. No one would even know, outside the customers' offices, that the giveaway was done. It looks like a volume purchase discount. They can do this for a few quarters until their installed base is done with the idea.

This would be Tucci's style.
