One man opinion ........ and it is Janus

Same Stocks, Different Funds

The Janus funds have gotten the reputation -- rightfully so -- for
owning many of the same stocks. Nokia, for example, has been
the top holding of several of the family's funds. But the managers
do disagree on some companies.

David Decker, as manager of the Strategic Value fund, pays
close attention to the growth rate he'll get for the amount of
valuation risk he must bear. He wants to provide good upside
and limit the downside. With Sun Microsystems
(SUNW:Nasdaq - news) and its high price, Decker isn't willing to
take on that risk.

...... and more

PaineWebber also liked the relatively inexpensive $2 billion purchase
price given Sun's $180 billion market capitalization and the fact that Sun
will use its highly valued stock to pay for the deal.

PaineWebber did criticize Sun's decision to buy Cobalt instead of building
a business to compete with Cobalt "[that] has little proprietary technology."
Sun has reasoned that the purchase gets it into the market faster.

The $2 billion purchase will dilute Sun's annual earnings-per-share by
about 15 cents to 20 cents. PaineWebber has modeled this dilution
separately from its initial forecast for Sun and maintains its estimated
earnings per share for 2000 at $1.02.

.........until the music stops.

So, we had a nice short squize again, Hope SUNW will not drop below 110 so I could collect my $6K
