i think there's another factor that comes into play here (i agree btw. on the idea that some form of rationality seems to be intruding) , namely the fact that a margin squeeze and profit growth slowdown is occurring. since it is generally accepted that it is difficult for corporations to pass on rising input costs, leaner margins are the only logical consequence. tech is still in denial in many areas though. how much sense does it make to sell off the biggest communications equipment customers (telcos), but not the providers of same equipment? surely the telcos reflect the realization that a combination of huge overcapacities and a mountain of debt ain't exactly a good thing...
