tonight's rap is well worth the read: the issue of analysts not exactly being the paragons of independent though they are supposed to be is one that should be pre-eminent on the SEC's 'grievances to be eliminated asap' list. likewise the patently obvious 'tape painting' exercises that seem to dominate trading these days. it seems market manipulation as long as it's perpetrated by deep enough pockets is regarded as a sort of pecadillo. and it has become endemic. fiduciary duty be damned.
