Maybe I will. I never have enough will to haggle. It is always simple: just undercut my will to take a lot of time and trouble. Doesn't take much.......

Re buying cars:

The most fun I ever had buying a new car (I haven't bought a new one in a while, the auto auction is the place to go, if a dealer owes you a favor) was once when I had an entire Sunday free.

I price the car beforehand, and knew pretty much what they'd take.

So, I offered $20,000 for the car.

Salesman says "I'll have to talk to my manager", comes back and says they need $24,000.

So I offered $20,000.05, and kept raising the offer by a nickel each time he went back to the sales manager. We went back and forth, and when it was all over they accepted $20,000.30, so we had spent two hours dickering over 25 cents.

At the end the sales manager tried to ding me $50 for mudflaps, so I offered to give them $20,000.30 plus whatever change I had in my pocket for the car, and they accepted.
