Perhaps the guy in the Arizona article is a Korean War vet. Perhaps he was thrown out of a job at age 55 by a greedy company. Perhaps he lost his life savings in the Keating S&L scandal. Perhaps he's torn between paying for food and for drugs. Perhaps he reads the papers and sees that Bush is advocating spending billions for a Star Wars defense system that likely won't work anyway. Perhaps he's thinking that the so-called peace dividend can help Americans instead of paying for a U.S. military to be the world's policeman. Perhaps this guy in the Arizona article is in a wheelchair. Perhaps his wife just died.

Perhaps you need to become a little more compassionate and less self-serving.
