I like AVNX a lot and will be adding at these prices. I
am concerned that JDSU and SCMR are not participating in the
fiber rally. I think RBAK is making a move here<

Anindo i'm not Concerned about Jdsu however it could consolidate between 96 and 130 for another month maybe two. There was large institutional buying on it today. I think it's due for an upside move.

SCMR revenue stream is still narrow and people were looking for new customer additions from last qtr. reports. I wait until the stock settles down. I think you do better with Extr for the interm.

And i'm not too sure about jumping into Avnx right now it has a high valuation and a lot to prove yet. 13 day EMA crossing under the 50... MACD down and heavy volume on a recent down day but it's on my watch list. I thinking of moving into Scon and Tlgd. Take a look at Dclk MACD turned bullish.

I'd be buying on weakness...... SDL's CEO Donald Scifres
talks to The Wall Street Transcript BUSINESS WIRE - September 20, 2000 13:01 NEW YORK,
Sep 20, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Wall Street Transcript has published an in-depth
interview with Dr. Donald Scifres, CEO of SDL (Nasdaq:SDLI), in which he talks at length
about the company's future.

The entire 2,700-word interview is available free online at twst.com.

Scifres gives an overview of the company. "SDL began operations in 1983 as a joint venture
of Xerox and Spectra-Physics. Over the years, we evolved as a company developing active
components for fiber optic communications and other applications involving semiconductor
lasers. In 1995 we went public. Our fastest growth has been in our fiber optic
communications business, which was up over 200% versus one year ago."

Scifres explains: "Our gross margins have been expanding due in part to the fact that our
yields have been improving. We have a number of our products manufactured with
semiconductor wafer fab equipment, and as we increase the number of units shipped, we
have been able to spread the overhead costs of that semiconductor wafer fab across more
units. So that's been improving our gross margin. Our business mix has been improving
toward more and more of the fiber optic communications products, which tend to have
higher gross margins."

Looking forward, Scifres states: "Going forward, we're expecting very exciting growth in our
lasers for both terrestrial and undersea submarine builds, our Raman pump lasers for the
amplifier programs that I mentioned earlier, our light modulator and receiver programs, our
network monitoring modules and our mux/demux products. So there are a number of product
lines that we expect to expand rapidly in the future."
