You could put a DOS prompt into your Start menu easily by right clicking COMMAND.COM and selecting 'create shortcut' with Explorer. Then just drag the new shortcut into your Start menu. Now DOS will be only a mouseclick away. (I use several: DOS Mode, DOS Window, 50 line DOS Window...)

Cheers, PW.

P.S.

If you're like most people, you have a load of DOS information already on your disk. Just search for files with the .TXT extension and you'll discover a dozen or so filled with useful tips and explanations. Try C:\WINDOWS\*.TXT first.
