Some of the mutual funds that did so great the last few years are running behind now. The Janus family, for instance, is closing some of their champion funds to new investors. They are not showing much profit this season. I have held three of them through thick and thin, finally cashing out of the famous "Twenty fund" and can't get back in.

The fact that they are not taking new money in some of their high tech funds leads one to believe that they too are having trouble identifying good investments out there, so what are we doing here? Will Fido's mgrs. do better?

Recording profits first seems like good business. So what's next if the big funds begin to rotate out of leading stocks before year end? It's going to be an interesting finish.
