Jim your post excellent too... I occasionally comment on stocks I don't own as well because I know people here are in them. I like to see everyone make money even if I am not making any money in a particular issue that day...

IS it illegal to post on a stock and how great it is then sell some or all on the same day or the next day?
Well, do the institutions put out sell ratings on their stocks before or after they have unloaded? hummmm?

It has been posted here many times for all to read that we need to protect themselves. When we have a nice profit, sell some.... when a loss gets to the 10% area or wherever that pain threshold lies, then get out and save our money for another day. Don't chase running stocks; there will always be another one.

Most of all, check out stocks closely before buying. Look at filings, news releases and my favorite: CALL THE COMPANY yourself.... DO YOUR OWN DD.

Unfortunately, the government and its agencies are in the business of protecting people from themselves...

The SEC has a job to do... including protecting people who are too lazy to do their own DD.

Tom

Great posts Jim and Tom - I too may comment on a stock
if I see something and know somebody on the thread is
interested in that stock even though I may not have any
of that stock at that time- e.i. JPEI(I do have some) right now is showing an unbelievable spread - over 0.16 and I might post 'wow - look at the spread' - does that mean I have to post a disclaimer - as you say Jim geesh
