Since there hasn't been too much news lately, I thought I'd do some digging on various fronts to see what I could find.

I exchanged e-mail with Wayne Howard, CFO of DataMirror. He confirmed that the company is comfortable with analyst's earning estimates both for the coming quarter and for the full year. I also asked whether the company planned to do a road show in the U.S. after it obtains the NASDAQ listing in order to drum up institutional support. He said that they did. Finally, I asked which companies they considered to be their chief competitors and he said "Informatica, Quest, Lakeview and Vision" were their chief competitors. I don't know much about the last two; any info from others on this board about those two would be appreciated.

On the subject of the NASDAQ listing, I exchanged e-mails with the Forbes writer who wrote the story about the Canadian stocks. She said that the company did not know when the listing would occur but they were confident it would happen by January 31, 2001. This struck me as an awfully long time. Since DataMirror's IR department has been so tight-lipped on the topic, I contacted the investor relations departments of other Canadian companies that obtained NASDAQ listings (e.g. RIMM, Zi etc.). Their responses varied from one to four months from the date of application to the date the stock began trading on the NASDAQ. My guess is that DataMirror was just being cautious and that the listing will occur in October or November. With any luck, that timing will coincide with a bounce in the NASDAQ.
