Canon EOS digital Elan or Rebel for about $499.00 and at least 5 megapixel resolution, but it may be a few years before we see one.


Dont be so sure. Have you seen the new Canon G1? 3 MP, lots of manual control,about $1000. So, based on the speed these things are dropping in price and gaining pixels, your dream is probably only about 18 months away. I'm looking at the G1 or the Kodak 4800.
