News Release
Mr. William Coulter reports
Sarah Lake, Labrador
Major General Resources has commenced drilling the second hole of a planned
three-hole program on the Sarah Lake, Labrador, joint venture property. This
hole is located approximately 320 metres south of hole No. 1 which was stopped
in gabbro at 560 metres. No visible nickel-copper mineralization was encountered
in hole No. 1.
Satellite, Labrador
The EM (electromagnetic) geophysical survey of Major General's
100-per-cent-owned Satellite property west of Sarah Lake is under way and
should be completed by Sept. 25. Unlike the black graphitic, conductive gabbro
rocks at Sarah which host the nickel/copper/cobalt mineralization, the Satellite
host gabbro is not conductive. The EM survey should prove to be an effective
geophysical aid for locating conductive minerals such as nickel, copper and cobalt.
Victoria Island
At the Victoria Island, Nunavut, diamond exploration property, art airborne
magnetic survey covering 1,400 line kilometres has been completed. Crews have
now finished this year's exploration program which included extensive till sampling,
ground magnetic and kimberlite sampling programs.
General
Major General has terminated its option on the Spider Lake property, Ont., due
to other priorities, including the Despinassy gold project in Quebec (joint ventured
with Cameco Gold Inc.), where drilling is planned to resume in November and the
Green Bay, Newfoundland base metals property, which Hudson Bay Exploration
& Development Co. Ltd. has optioned to explore for base metals.
