Gore to Outline His Energy Policy

(CNSNews.com) - Anticipating a home heating oil crisis - something that analysts have seen coming for many months - Vice President Al Gore plans to "outline a set of policies and proposals" on Thursday to deal with rising oil prices. During an interview with CNN Wednesday, the vice president blamed current high oil prices on OPEC, for not supplying enough crude; and on oil companies, for "jacking up" prices. Gore spokesman Chris Lehane said the vice president on Thursday morning "will make some specific policy announcements which will deal with this crisis, right here, right now." In recent weeks, the Gore campaign has made every effort to "get ahead" of news stories that might be damaging to the Gore campaign. By making announcements before a news story breaks, or before a crisis develops, Gore -- in theory -- can be cast as a leader on issues of concern to voters. The Bush campaign blames the current oil crisis on the failed energy policies of the Clinton-Gore administration.
