Cirrus, Re: AMD gets killed EVEN THOUGH they have said at least THREE times they plan to meet expectations.

After the bloodbath tomorrow (I guess Intel will pull the whole NASDAQ down) this should be a very good buying opportunity -- I'm glad I sold early. Just looked at the Intel warning:

"The company expects gross margin percentage for the third quarter to be 62 percent, plus or minus a point. Gross margin percentage for 2000 is expected to be 63 percent, plus or minus a few points. In the short term, Intel's gross margin percentage varies primarily with revenue levels and product mix as well as changes in unit costs."

The shortfall in gross margins (estimated were 64%) means that Intels ASPs are under pressure.

"The company expects interest and other income for the third quarter of 2000 to be approximately $900 million."

No Micron stock left to sell? This is $100 million (or 10%) higher than previous guidance.

In every companies time, there comes a time where they must distance from the rest of the "crowd:. Here is AMD's time. I think that they should immediately issue an advisorary that they expect to meet earlier commitments and if they are going to have any upside, this is the time to let the cat out of the bag.

This Intel problem is going to get written up big time. If at the same time every story contains that AMD is stuck to estimates- and even better- if they guided higher, AMD will stand out.

TIME TO SHOW IF YOU HAVE BALLS AMD!!!
