Robertson Stephens analyst reiterates strong buy...

Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (Nasdaq: AMCC $189.28)

Strong Buy

Arun Veerappan, Communication Components/Semiconductor Devices

"After market close on Thursday, September 21, Applied Micro Circuits announced that it had acquired privately held SiLUTIA," said Veerappan. "While terms of the transaction were not disclosed, we believe that the acquisition will be non-dilutive, both to current quarter and forward estimates. The SiLUTIA acquisition will be accounted for as a purchase. Based in Colorado, SiLUTIA brings to AMCC more than 10 engineers with backgrounds ranging from mixed-signal to digital design. This engineering talent, we believe, will likely help accelerate AMCC's ability to enhance existing products. We continue to maintain our current estimates on AMCC for the second quarter, which we believe to be on track at $89 million in revenue and $0.23 in earnings-per-share. We reiterate our Strong Buy rating on the stock."
