Yes but I don't "need" the kit so...

That's the point: you don't "need" the kit but you would use more minutes if you had one. How many more MOUs would most people use if they had a car kit? 10%? 5%? 20% Remember that G*s sole revenue, aside from (I think) some initial small part of hardware sales, is MOUs. Increasing MOUs by 5%, 10%, 20% - whatever - falls to the bottom line pretty quickly.
