North Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri and Arizona are all bellwether states. The tightening of the race in N.C. really doesn't surprise me. All four states really are must-win states for Bush, since it appears that he is not going to win in California, Florida or N.Y. Recent polls show that Missouri is in the Gore-Lieberman camp, while the presidential race in the other states has tightened up considerably. Also read a story today where congressional races in Kentucky also tightening up, and the Democrats now see a chance to perhaps win back one or two seats from the GOP. Kentucky's House delegation is five GOP and one Democrat, and the lone Democrat votes Republican much of the time.
