The "Dogs of the DOW" concept is based on cycles, but not the type I worked on. I've seen mixed results on the DotD approach and never took it seriously.

The Hurst cycles I studied were based on counts and frequency of occurances. These things exist even in the daily and hourly charts. I found it fascinating and spent several years working on it. All before I had a computer to assist. Man, what a lot of time I spent away from my wife!

Then, when she got sick I abandoned all of it. After losing her, I never went back to it until a few months ago. I can't see me ever spending the time with it I formerly did, but still believe it to be a worthwhile effort, although somewhat OT around here.
