What an excellent pump and dump this is... Message 7958625 Lebed's father, from the NY Times article today...Late yesterday afternoon, Gregory Lebed, Jonathan's father, stood outside the family's two-story brown-shingle house greeting reporters. Dressed in jeans and a gray T-shirt, he said he could not comment on his son's situation other than to say he was fine. "He's a good student," he said. Acknowledging that many people are trading stocks on the Internet these days, Mr. Lebed said: "So they pick on a kid." Poor kid. Wish I were "picked on" so profitably. Looking at Lebed's posts, I don't buy that "Dear Old Dad" actually made them, but I could go for the "Daddy made me do it" argument. The vast majority appear to be made before and after school. On the flip side... Dad wasn't surprised by the $600,000 or more showing up in the custodial account? This could be the makings of a great thread, like the "murder mystery" threads in the past on SI. Or might Dad not be the protagonist, but someone else... even Tokyo Mex? One hypes, another cashes in? Perhaps the kid gets greedy and starts cashing in himself. Uh, Dad... I need an advance on my allowance? Who funded the initial buys? I doubt he started off with a few hundred bucks. He must have had a substantial grubstake to begin with. Scenario: an investor befriends Lebed and finds out his age. His eyes light up. I'll give you the stocks, kid, you hype them. I'll give you a cut of my winnings. Cool, Johnny says. Kid builds stash of money and starts using it himself. A little digging might turn up some interesting facts. I can see the thread now... something like, "Who's Jonathan covering for?" P.S. White collar crime is always a better option than white powder crime.
