No, like Deere, they just profit from high prices for their core industry's commodity. The impersonal forces of supply and demand set prices - except that in oil's case, OPEC controls a lot of the supply.

For grain, federal price support programs affect (control may be too strong a word) supply and prices. I suppose in theory Deere could attempt to affect grain prices (and indirectly demand for farm equipment) via government lobbying.
