Tench.. I almost hate to do this.. since I agree it appears this fella is a troller.. but there are some stories from overseas to give some evidence that AMD has been eating into European market share of Intel (and some of the analysts have started to hint at.. as you'd notice when you visit the AMD mod thread to some of the ppl who've posted such info)

Check this url out if you havent seen it already.. shows signs of a large AMD turnaround in England and reduction of Intel sales.. and the major computer stores going to AMD.

Re: On the processor front, AMD continued to lose ground to Intel after a surge during the holidays.

It's not quite that simple. If AMD replaces the sales of 2 million K6-2's, which it sold for $60 each, and profited $25 each, with the sales of 1.5 million Athlons, which are sold for $175 each, with profits of $150 each, it almost doubles revenue, and more than quadruples profits.

Nonetheless, Intel warned on revenues, not profits, and only by a cent or two, so we won't know what's really been going on until the actual quarterly reports.

And we'll find out from AMD, not Intel, since only AMD gives information on ASPs and binsplits (and even AMD releases few details).

Ten,

Most of the PC's in Fry's have been Intel systems, all year long. The shelves where AMD has dominated have been the high end systems.

I'm not surprised that Intel has 2/3 retail market share when considering low margin systems.
