So just before Quantum's Mike Brown speaks at the Tuesday IDEMA Dinner Meeting, he's asked by Jim Porter, who introduces him, if he would take question afterwards in view of the rumors swirling around. Brown says sure.

So after the speech, Porter asks the audience if there are any questions. No one raises their hand to ask even one question.

I elected not to attend so I can't say what I would have done.

Regarding the rumored get together between Quantum/Maxtor, the folks I talked with in the banking/investment community say NO, but several Quantum and Maxtor folks I talked with say YES.

One Quantum source said a name for the new entity has come out of the Quantum lunch room chats. They are calling it "Quaxtor".

Regards,
LT

Stitch,
At least it's never dull.
After confirming what LT had to say (just process, LT, I have great respect for what you have to say), I moved into RDRT and reestablished small positions in MXTR, HDD, DSS, HTCH and bought a new position in WDC. Nothing major, just my usual shotgun approach of buying 'em all and weeding 'em out later (the farmer in me I guess).
Still very negative about PC demand (corporate less of a bother than consumer) but we shall see. Anxiously awaiting Microsoft's quarter and comments about WIN2000.

LT, win-lose-or draw, I sure appreciate you taking the time to post the interesting information coming out of the Diskcon get-together. Q4 is going to be interesting to watch.

Thanks guys,

Paul

Just to confirm your comments about the TDK flooding, have heard very recently that suppliers to the HGA line at SAE have had about a six week hole plugged into their shipping schedules.
