Sure there might be some effect from weak euro. INTC is using this as excuse cowardly for bigger problems which we all aware of.

" One Intel official told Reuters the company had not done enough of its own analysis to know exactly
what factors had caused the slower than expected sales. "

Blaming weak euro was way too easy excuse they could come out with, just like every inept companies used "y2k" excuse for their missing earnings. My point is not to rub in, but they did not have to take down the whole market with them, only if they were honest a little bit. Coward Inept Management at best!!!

Nick,<<<Do you believe the problems in Europe (weak Euro and high oil) are Barrett's doing? >>>

Intel (Barrett) can't do anything about the Euro, high oil prices, or any other of the macro economic issues.

However, shares in Intel has historically been very volatile. Much more than it should be. I suppose, however, with Intel you have to take the good along with the bad. They do somethings incredibly well and they are lucky as hell. They sit in the sweet spot of the Internet revolution, enjoy gorilla status, and they are taking advantage of the situation. For the most part they manage their money well and make decent investments.

But, in some areas they are incredibly stupid and refuse to change. As the man in Cool Hand Luke sez. It is a failure in communications .

But more than that, it is also a matter of excessive pride. It is a cultural thing. They are arrogant. They think they are smarter and therefore they do not have any respect for anyone else. They don't have to 'splain nothing.

There was no reason to guide investors to a killer 3rd Q.

High boastings by the proud bring sorrow to the height - to punish pride.

Excessive pride and arrogance will do this to you every time.

Even now, they are going to put up their armor. After all, no one at Intel is going on food stamps any time soon. But a lot of small investors are hurting.
