More on INTC from ML's PC analyst

"Last night Intel preannounced an anticipated top-line shortfall of roughly $300 million, citing weakness in Europe as the sole cause for the miss."

"Given that weakness in Europe is old news, we think other factors may be at work here."

"We believe many of Intel’s customers may have over-ordered during the summer months in anticipation of processor supply constraints. In point of fact, Intel’s execution over the past couple of months with respect to supply has been considerably better than expectations."

"Our recommendations include Gateway, Compaq, and Dell at these levels."

FYI, yesterday, this analyst cut his price target on Dell for the 3rd time since July. His most recent price target changes for GTW and CPQ were decreases. He didn't recommend AAPL, but he raised his price target for it two weeks ago.
