I very strongly believe that Dubya is not right one for the job. The answers lie in many of my previous posts. And I did think that among any presidential candidates, John McCain would have been the correct choice (despite the major difference in various issues he supports). He can make decisions that are correct for the country rather than be swayed by some sub group within his or any party. I feel Bush is fragile and would not be able to stand up to such people. Gore has demonstrated that he can stand to such sub groups within his party when it comes to the best interest of the country, a reason why he got the union endorsements late in the game. He and Gore are primarily running because of their family expectations. But Gore, his embellishments and pandering aside, seems to be the one who has shown hunger to serve the people while Bush would be content in delegating responsiblity. JC Watts is by no means a good candidate. If I were a conservative, I would rather go with Steve Largent. I, like many other minorities are scared of the religous right and with very good reason (they are the reason why Powell is not running). Till RR holds stranglehold on Republican Party, forget about the party being able to reach out to people like me. They seem to impose their will on others. Atleast I feel welcome in Democratic fold (if I were to make a party affiliation which I will after the citizenship). Besides, I feel I am moderate enough to see others points of view, Right or Left. Also a unanimous view prevailing within my community about the impeachment, was that it was a very unfairly hypocritical and mean process where the basis was primarily about sex. Later when so many republicans including Hyde and Livingston were outed, it just re inforced the idea that whole thing was sham. No one bought the line that it was about perjury as they did not believe that crimes did not rise to the level of impeachment. It will take few years for people to forget. Had it been dealt differently, the party would have attracted a much larger following in the long term. All this is my view of course.
