Like any other secular trend, bandwidth will be built out ahead of demand, demand will follow with new applications and tech advances will then make bandwidth a low-margin commodity (more and more channels in one fiber strand, optical switching, etc.).

FO is where PC's were 3-5 years ago IMHO. Before the Internet, who needed all those PC's?

By 2003-2005, FO companies and networks will be warning about slowing growth too.

One more note on FO companies - I doubt you could buy a new component or system that you hadn't booked already for 2000 delivery. The suppliers are selling everything they can make, literally.

LU is in the dumps because they screwed up on the supply side, not demand. That's why we don't own them in the funds.
