Archimedes hit it on the head, gold doesn't respond to manipulation. I believe you are also correct that last nights intervention likely put a floor in on gold.

I'm not sure what the ST/LT effect of an SPR release would look like, it could almost be bullish?

JimL. Roebear has it right. A slow, gradual rise in gold.

Actually that is my preference. Anytime a market spikes way up very quickly it usually gives it all back just as quickly. That's what we saw a year ago with the sharp rally in gold.

This time I'm voting for the "slow, gradual" scenario. Sure pops here and there, afterall the gold market is very thin compared to other markets that receive comparable attention from investors and the financial media. But most of the big bull moves I've seen in markets sneak up on you. That keeps the majority out until most of the move is over and the saavy early buyers are getting ready to distribute their shares near the top<g>.
