Many biochemical processes tend to optimize around 20-30 degC. So, was the change in planetary temperature "wanted" by life? That assumes that the biochemical processes currently used by life on earth are the only ones that could evolve into intelligence. I think instead, the life adapts (by surviving) to fit the processes available. It always seems so clever and inevitable in hindsite, but thats the nature of history. There are millions of possible futures, but only one comes to happen. TP
