Look, some of these guys are not my cup of tea, but America is very far from having the sort of mass reactionary religious organizations that still subsist in Asia and North Africa. I can think of no Christian offhand who thinks that religious conformity should be forced in violation of conscience. The modest issues that do arise have to do with the ability of communities to sustain their customs, which were viewed as pretty harmless by most people until fairly recently, without federal interference. There can be legitimate disagreement about the propriety of some things, but the tendency to equate most of these people with the Taliban is wayyyyyyy overboard. I believe in tolerance, including tolerance for Christians. If one has a believing Muslim in school, one should make sure he is accommodated in praying during the day. If one has a Hindu population, then there should be alternatives to hamburgers. If one has an orthodox Jew, he ought to be able to say a brukha before a meal. And even Christians deserve some consideration...........
