MediSolution recognized by Microsoft for excellence in healthcare software

MONTREAL, Oct. 4 /CNW/ - MediSolution Ltd. (MSH:TSE), Canada's leading
healthcare information technology company, today announced that its patient
record system, MediPatient+, was among the top three software products in its
category worldwide to have been selected by Microsoft Corp.
The fourth annual Industry Solution Awards for Healthcare, which were
announced late yesterday at Windows on Healthcare 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada,
are designed to reward the best Microsoft-based solutions specifically
utilizing Windows(R) 2000 Server, Windows NT(R) Server and SQL Server.
``MediSolution is extremely pleased to have been chosen from among the
many suppliers worldwide for the Microsoft award,'' said MediSolution
President and CEO Rémi St-Hilaire. ``We were the only Canadian company in our
category and we're proud to say that our MediPatient+ solution has become the
leading electronic patient record software with more than 150 installations in
less than two years.''
MediPatient+, which has been widely recognized as a leading electronic
patient record system, enables authorized healthcare professionals to gain
rapid online access to a patient's complete medical history, including
information about drug records, lab tests, diagnostic procedures and other
medical information from hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, labs and doctors'
offices. Up-to-date patient history is available at all times and, with proper
authorization, can be viewed simultaneously from multiple locations including
via the Internet.
``On-demand access to a patient's health record can make a critical
difference when choosing treatment options and can help to save
lives-especially in situations where a patient is incapable of providing
comprehensive information,'' St-Hilaire said. ``Our MediPatient+ software
helps to improve patient care.''
Demand for MediPatient+ continues to increase worldwide, fuelled by the
trend towards healthcare integration at the community and regional levels, and
efforts by healthcare organizations to drive down the costs of health care,
reduce waiting lists and improve patient care.
