(Very good article on Norilsk)

RAO Norilsk hopes a resturcturing and finanacial help from Europeand Asia will keep it on top,
allan Robinson says

Russia's RAO Norilsk Nickel does not pan o stand idly by hile offshore rivals embarkon a multibillion-dollar capital spending spreee this decase that could erode its market share.

With the advice of germany's Deutsche Bank, Norilsk is restructuring its assets topave the way for a badly needed fiancing, mainly from European and Asian banks said Terence Ortslan, a mining analyst with tsOand Associates of Montreal.

Norilsk, the world's largest nickel mining company, can't be ignored as a competitor by the major companies in the Canadian mining industry. It supplies bout one-third of the world's palladium and about 20 percent of paltinum, copper and nickel from its mines in Siberia.

Mr. Orstlan siad there is no questioning he professionalism of Norilsk's manaement. 'These are very sophisticated operators."

Etc, etc. This is a must read for this thread.
