OT: die, muskets and real war.

"In the worst of cases, in a real war, these dies could be fired in bunches from muskets using black gun powder.

inteL may not much more, in the way of alternatives, left"
Absolutely! Who said that in a price war, Intel has no ammunition?

I am utterly fascinated by the fact that Intel released this warning for Q3 instead of trying to weasel their way through like they have in past quarters. I wonder what pushed them over the brink? They still have some money left in the Capital Group, so they could have pushed the biting of the bullet off until Q1. Unless they have decided to institute a scorched earth policy for Q4. But for that to work they will have to tie the PIII and the Athlon to each other, limb to limb, and to somehow push the production level of the P4 up enough to generate some sales. And where would they get the Rambus memory? It just doesn't make any sense at all...
