. . . government taxation probably reinforces Gorilla Game principles. Careful choice up front and "Buy and hold" is very rational in that situation. And sales take place only when a compelling alternative presents itself.

Understand what you are doing fits your current situation and respect that. Even so, I would suggest that Qualcomm is a company which is like a coiled spring. When the power of that spring is released will be difficult to predict in advance.


Great post. It summarizes what I have been thinking all year:

1. On outside investments, shot selection is terribly important because I intend to hold outside (an IRA)investments a long, long time.

2. Selling MSFT outside and buying QCOM makes sense because it is a compelling enough choice worth the taxation on appreciated in MSFT.

3. It is easier to hold kings inside (an IRA) and gorillas outside.
