If you put $10,000 into the S&P 500 each May 1 and sold on Oct 31 from 1950 to 1999, you would have a profit of $11,751.

But if you put your $10,000 in on Nov 1, and sold on April 30, your profit would have been $359,533.

1. does this include ST cap gains taxes paid on the sales?

2. What would you have had if you just put in $10k on May 1, 1950 and held to Nov 1, 1999?
