Patriot Scientific Partners With Derivation Systems for Board-Level
Products; Derivation Will Market PSC1000-Powered Boards Based On PC104
Form Factor

SAN DIEGO, Sep 25, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Patriot Scientific Corp.
(OTCBB:PTSC), today announced that Derivation Systems Inc. is developing a
family of industrial computer boards utilizing Patriot's PSC1000 Java processor.

This new family of boards will be targeted at industrial control and network
security markets, as well as traditional PC104-specific embedded applications.

Derivation Systems will introduce two PC/104 boards based on the PSC1000A
processor from Patriot Scientific. The first board to be introduced, named the
"PS2000," will serve the general PC/104 market, while the second board, the
"PS3000," will be aimed at the high performance PC/104-plus market by
incorporating the high speed PCI Bus interface.

The PS2000 board is an integrated PC/104 CPU module based on thePSC1000A
processor. It can be used as a standalone computer or as a processor module in a
PC/104 stack. The PS2000 is fully compatible with Wind River Systems VxWorks(R)
and Personal Java(R) from Sun Microsystems. On-board I/O includes 10 Mbit
Ethernet, LCD/VGA controller, keyboard controller, one serial and one parallel
port. Memory support includes 16MB low power DRAM, 1MB Flash, and 1MB VRAM.
Production units are expected to be available in December of this year.

The PS3000 board, to be introduced in the second quarter of 2001, will be
software compatible with the PS2000, and will incorporate advanced performance
features. On-board I/O will include 10/100 Mbit Ethernet, PCI based video and
flat panel display support, keyboard controller, one serial port and one
parallel port. Memory support will include 8-128MB low power DRAM in a
high-reliability latching 144-pin SODIMM socket, 1MB Flash, and 2MB VRAM.

"Java is a rapidly emerging technology among our core customer base. We see
strong demand for Java computer boards in the PC104 form factor. The PSC1000's
outstanding Java performance and low cost make it the ideal engine for our new
line of boards," said Derivation Systems' President, Dr. Bhaskar Bose.

Jim Lunney, president and chief executive officer of Patriot Scientific stated,
"We are thrilled to have Derivation Systems as one of our hardware partners.
Derivation has a reputation for high quality PC104 boards, has extensive Java
experience, and a strong presence in the industrial control and DOD/government
markets." Lunney added, "We've had many requests from customers for board-level
solutions for Java, and this partnership will allow us to fill those customer
needs."
