Hi sylvester80; Re the suggestion that DDR is slipping, in reference to the 5 VIA DDR motherboards just unveiled...

Basically, you're setting up a straw man by suggesting that DDR is late. You're putting words in my mouth(s) that I never said. I have no idea what kind of promises you were told about DDR production (probably by the bozos on Yahoo), but here's my post from June 6, 2000 giving the schedule for a bunch of DDR chipsets: #reply-13833764

With this many chipsets it is inevitable that some are going to miss. But note that VIA's Pro266 was supposed to be production ready in 3Q00, it is now 3Q00, and it is production ready, and 5 motherboard houses just had their VIA Pro266 motherboards photographed at VTF.

Note that when a chipset maker says "production" this means that they are ready to take orders and produce chipsets. From there, the motherboard makers buy the chips and build boards. Then they have to go to distributors &c. All this takes time. I know that mom and pop can't think in terms of "lead time" (or anything else) so they have to have this explained to them.
