great time to own call options
I would say it's a great time to have sold puts. Who knows when people will wake up to the promise of Dell, but this surely has to be near the bottom.

Bill - I got a pretty nice price on selling the Jan 35 puts - if put to me I would effectively have the stock at 31, which I am pretty comfortable with. I used the premium to buy the Jan 01 40 calls, getting about 1 1/2 calls for each put sold. This is of course a bullish bet since if the stock moves against me I will lose the calls and take the stock too.

I would have been much more comfortable with the Feb options since they expire after DELL's earnings but there was just no action there at all.

I have to assume that the many positive statements from DELL management indicate that they are comfortable with the next few quarters. Still, with investor actions so disconnected from facts, it pays to be vigilant. And as we saw this week, external events can make all company specific analysis useless.

Good luck...
