It is comforting to think of things in a cosmic way. I often refer to Mother Nature or even to God as a metaphore, but I don't actually buy the idea.

There is nobility in being the first, perhaps the only, beings to confront the cold, uncaring accident of nature. There is no absolute guideline to immortality and it may be that immortality is a pipe dream. It is the intelligent ones who can best find that even that we may die, our information lives on.
