There was major damage to the tech stocks in the aftermarket on Thursday, the pre-opening market and on the open on Friday morning. If you were a trader you would have seen that. Many semis and other tech stocks were down 15% or more, Traders snapped them up then and sold them a few hours latter for 10% or more. I bought some of the tech stocks Thursday and Friday and sold part of them by the close. The rest I am holding onto for a trend play.

AMD's image is being re-framed. Although they are gaining market share, Intel will have the P4 out soon. It is optimized to deliver hz so that they can compete semantically against AMD in the keyword Ghz race (the most important thing to ignorant consumers). Some analysts think that Intel will have 20%+ excess capacity by the first quarter of next year such that they can drive down prices. Ashok Kumar, (he is still too enamored with Intel Inside his brain), said, "~make AMD road kill".

I think AMD will show good results this and next quarter with little or no adverse effect reported from a slow down in Europe. However, the top line growth prospects into 2001 will likely be dimmed by Intel's efforts to hold onto market share. I think AMD's stock price will rally to the high 30s soon and move toward the mid 80s by the 1st quarter. I do not think AMD will move to new highs within the next 9-12 months. But then, I am trading the stock and not concerned about anything further out than the next few months.

Good luck investing in the high techs.
