Hi Bob, Maybe your Dad was a smart man,...after all, he raised a smart son :-)))) You forgot to include my suppositions that Barrick might go for FN or PGD or other gold partners. Mergers seem to be in vogue lately. FN particularly is hot to trot for a merger partner ...they are talking to 5 potential merger partners,...wonder who they are? Homestake is talking 10 million oz Au (not even talking about the Ag) alone on ARP property (40% Barrick) and they think (me too) it has a good chance of doubling that in 3 years. Monster property. Then there is Barrick's own properties bordering Homestake's, they are still growing. Then there are all the little guys around them with similar volcanics and surface prospecting results to the original finds,...most JV'd with a big producer. Tanzania is another Au monster, and Barrick is in the middle of everything. Lots of potential gold bearing structures on both Suttons and Pangea's old properties,...and then there is Tan Range. Looks like another Abitibi (and they are still finding new stuff in Abitibi, a century later). We need to have this discussion again in a few years (gggggggggggg). This discussion started several posts back with some Au conspiratorialists telling us again, that Barrick is one of the main sources of evil in the Au market because of the great percentage of the Au market they have in both production and reserves, and all that forward selling they do. I countered with your chart of several months ago showing Barrick as a rather small player in annual production, even though being one of the bigger players. These people could look further on your site and discover they are not that big in reserves either, percentage wise, and then you were kind enough to provide total world supply figures, adding scrap and central bank sales. We go around in circles with these conspiracy folks. It seems a new one reads the latest junk from the Gata folks, and believe it all 100%. Once they get the religion, figures and facts go out the window. Then they must spread it around like the Jehovah's Witness folks. Waste of time trying to change the views of the "born again-gold conspiracy theorists". Clearly they don't understand,....the aliens are the real cause of the POG collapse (gggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg). In any event, if we are going to raise Barrick into the demonic position these loons want it to be in, we must find some way it can get more production and reserves,... in a few years (ggggggggg). I'm trying my best :-)))
