The advent of the internet has increased storage requirements on the client side as well as the server side. Even though some of the client's storage increase has been increasingly complex software, the file portion has been significant(also). Even a PC connected to a 10Mb/sec or 100Mb/sec wired network will invariably have tons of downloaded files resident on the hard drive. In fact, the faster the connection, the more likely a user seems to opt for downloading large files. The opposite might be the more intuitive response, since it would take so much longer to access a file multiple times over a slow network, but it just doesn't seem to be the case. JMHO, Cooters

I could easily say that since the SmartMedia standard was released royalty free, that it'd have a favorable cost structure compared to CF, but.. that again is speculation.. what's the point of pointing out the disadvantages of the other, just to make your investment seem better? There is NO investment that's bulletproof.. that's what risk is all about. You can't be ignorant and not fully understand the potential things in the industry that will have a negative impact on the company, but at the same time.. I could come up with arguments on ANY company as to why it'd be a poor investment. Regarding your statement about MLC, that remains to be seen.. the licensing agreements haven't slowed down, nor have the shipments.. <<My arguments may be "faulty" and I am prepared to eat crow when the time comes. I still feel SanDisk is the better long-term investment for many reasons that I have already tried to define exhaustively. I don't believe that either of us will be unhappy 1-2 years from now!
